TEAM SPONSORS:

We do not have a team sponsor, but we are proud to be able advertise Sobell House Hospice Charity on our shirts. Sobell House has been offering care and support to those members of our Oxfordshire community affected by terminal illness. Their aim is to offer physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to those facing illness, death and bereavement by focusing on the quality of life, and respecting the uniqueness of each person using the hospice. The focus is on the patient and family and not the disease. Patients with a life limiting illness often need more care than those whose illness is curable; as a result they can feel vulnerable and disadvantaged. The work of the hospice affects thousands of people every year through day centre visits, home care, residential care and bereavement counselling. The service is free to everyone, but unfortunately it costs currently around £3.2 million a year to run, much of which is raised through the work of the Sobell House Hospice Charity and through the support and generosity of individuals and organisations like Summertown Stars AFC.

Aims:

This is one of the younger all-girl teams and the aim of the team is to have fun and gradually develop football skills through training and playing matches.

All of the registered players play matches, irrespective of their ability on a rotation basis. This season we have potentially 20+ games (dependant on success in cup competitions!). Therefore, as well as a regular competitive aspect, there will also be ample opportunity to develop the player’s skills and technical awareness of the game – in a fun and enjoyable way. Great emphasis is taken on developing and improving each individual player.
