OBJECTIVE

METHOD

Club enlargement which seeks to have 2 11 a side  agegroup teams for U11s through U16s Through Club's non discriminatory policy, very important SSAFC can offer kids with varying ability an opportunity to play for the club at each age group.

 

School's Liaison Policy now established.  Two Club School Liaison Officers appointed.  The Club has also now appointed nine School Liaison distribution helpers to hand deliver Club's development initiatives to all school Heads in it's catchment.  

SSAFC Footballing Fun/Open Days run to supplement coaching and promote the club with new potential members.

Link with Oxford United now determined to create a safe and professional exit environment for their players who fail to make the mark

To be a Charter Standard Community Club by end of season 2005/2006 to ensure that SSAFC will be the natural choice for youth footballers in Oxford.

Club development initiative to be developed with Oxford City Council now to secure additional pitches at Cutteslowe Park as our Club Team  enlargement dictates.


Coaching support to raise Club's footballing standard and ensure Player Retention

 

Objective to ensure that each team has one Level 1 qualified coach per 10 kids. 

Club has appointed Liam Carroll (LC) as it's Coaching Development Officer who has access to the following coaching resources to supplement each teams own Level 1 coach(es) :

Coach rotation: LC to ensure efficient use of existing resources by efficiently rotating coaching resources within the club when necessary

Working with Oxford Brooks Sports coaching degree courses. Plan to be presented to Mark Griffiths, Course Director, to integrate SSAFC into it's degree course plan to provide live practical training experience for it's L1 qualified undergraduates. .  SSAFC already has one Level 1 degree student signed to this programme and aims to have several more beginning season 2005/6

Coaching courses being run in school holidays by Owen McGovern of Sports Active and with Oxford United through their coaching development team.

Improved coaching environment now possible with links the Club is making with Private schools in it's catchment. Magdalen School and Dragon School both allow SSAFC access to their Astroturf for training throughout the entire year.
Ongoing development of Managers and their assistants: Work with the FA to encourage attendance on Level 1 and Level 2 training courses.


Development of
Girls Teams

 

First 7 a side (U12s) team now established and ready to register for Oxford Girl's League in 2005/2006

Club to actively work with all schools in it's catchment to develop U14s & U16s 7 a side Girls teams during 2005/2006. Promotional Coaching days for Girls to be scheduled for this purpose.


Exit Routes

 

 

Majority of SSAFC's youth footballing members continue in further education and leave Oxford for University.

Club is however committed to forge links with an Adult Club to give continuity in the local community for those youth to adult members who want to continue Club football in the same locality with a club with similar ethics and values.  
Currently talking to Oxford University Press men's league. Will also approach Kidlington Mens team.


Create greater Club Unity
Communicate better from Committee back to parent base and kids to encourage a better and more friendly club which will help to secure greater player retention

 

 

Club's new logo and image now agreed with new kit design agreed for all age groups.

Club's new Website to be launched by June 30th . All managers to have team areas that will enable them to post material to the site relevant 

Quarterly Journal -- "The Summertown Star", first issue due June 2005 now possible with appointment of Club Journal Editor.


Club's Link to Professional Club

 

SSAFC now in detailed discussions with Oxford United to determine practical ways to raise it's standards.

It is universally SSAFC's wish to nurture and encourage talented youth footballers by actively participating in any  discussions between OU, the Player and his parents. Equally, SSAFC wishes to develop it's reputation with Ox United to be their first recommended choice as part of their own player exit strategy.

Incentives for SSAFC will include the following:-

  • Some paid OxUnited assistance with coaching when required;

  • Opportunities to see how coaching is managed at a professional club with Managers attending OxUnited training sessions;

  • Kids warm up sessions on Match Days at Kassam Stadium

  • Kid for a Quid tickets for kids to see OxUnited play at home

  • Possible venue for meetings and Club functions


Funding Club's development to improve facilities

 

Events committee now formed with 16 parents signed on for 4 key recurring Club annual events: Summer mini soccer Tournament (July); Under 10s 11 a side tournament (June); Presentation Night (June); Christmas fund raising event (December);

Sponsorship initiatives confirmed with VW, Fabulous Baking Boys, Esporta, The Coop thus far. Key medium term objective to have each team sponsored for ��1000 per annum to pay for all team's kit requirements.  Kit design space for new Sponsorship logo now uniform across entire club.

Grant application process will begin to replace Club Hut once Development Club Charter Status confirmed.  SSAFC to work with Oxford City Council for funding applications from Sports England, National Lottery etc.


Community Charter Award

 

Key development objective for 2005_2006. Club already expects to have most aspects in place for this award by September 2005 , ie:-

  • 150 Soccer Parents on board through Club's new Registration process

  • Schools Liaison Officer with 9 local school SL Distribution helpers in position

  • An Events Committee with 16 parents now in place. Volunteer coordinator to be appointed by September.

  • Development of New Teams now a strategic priority with objectives in place to have 2 teams for each 11 a side agegroup

  • Coaching Education now in full swing with 9 Level 1 Managers and Assistant  qualifying in 2004/2005. Three Level 1 Coaches to continue onto Level 2 in 2005_2006 with a further 6 Level 1 courses booked for Managers

  • To develop own Club referees to address shortages. The Club expects to have 6 junior refs signed up for FA Ref Courses by the end of the season
